Our Mission

IMG_0423.jpeg

The Kiang Foundation supports curiosity-driven, interdisciplinary, and cross-community learning, research, and creative work that connects adjacent fields, methods, and communities to generate new insight and practical value.

What
we support

We are organized and operated exclusively for charitable and educational purposes, including providing scholarships, fellowships, residencies, and related educational support to students and other literary learners pursuing curiosity-driven work.

We advance education by supporting activities that catalyze professional development, provide access to opportunities for growth, eecouage collaboration, and enrich the public sphere.

Who
we serve

The Foundation’s initial priorities will focus on a Scholarship Program and developing a limited Residency Program .

Scholarships programming will focus on students who need support articulating an interdisciplinary or cross-community idea and sharing it professionally.

Our residencies will target emerging authors and scholars who need space, time, and guidance to complete their work.

Why
it matters

Literary and Interdisciplinary work at the level we serve is severely under-funded, under-rewarded and programmatically under-addressed.

Even modest support can be catalytic by helping fund research, materials, travel, fieldwork, community engagement, and time-to-completion needs.

By increasing the exposure of emerging ideas, we surface new perspectives essential for solving today's multifaceted challenges.

Catalytic marginal support can unlock creative work that's stuck behind a funding gap.
